With a goal of promoting faculty research publications and further improving the visibility and impact factors for faculty publications, funding will be awarded on a competitive basis to pay for journal open access publication fees (Article Processing Charges) and print publication page buys/charges. Publishing in high-impact factor (highly ranked) journals enhances a faculty member’s scholarship by validating the quality and importance of their research, increasing their own and the institution’s visibility within the academic/scientific community, and opens the doors to external funding opportunities and new collaborations.
To be eligible for a publication support award, the article must be accepted for publication. The emphasis of the funding is towards traditional research articles, short articles (research letters, research notes), case studies, short communications, and review articles. Support for editorials, book reviews, and commentaries will not be provided. Publication outlets should be in the Master Journal List hosted by Web of Science. Open access is the intent of the fund, including open access options that exist in hybrid format journals.
Funding will be competitively awarded on a rolling basis throughout the year. Applicants submit their applications through InfoReady. Applications are reviewed by the Publication Support Subcommittee of the EKU Research Advisory Council (ERAC), with a decision generally reached within two weeks.
