IT Checklist
Review of steps provided by Information Technology on how to back-up data preparing for separation from EKU.
You can keep your EKU student email account even after graduation, so you’ll still have access to email.
However, please note that access to Microsoft 365 apps and services linked to your EKU account will end (see next steps for details).
After graduation, you will lose access to files stored on your EKU OneDrive, and Microsoft will delete the files.
Be sure to back up and transfer your files to a personal account before the last day of graduation ceremonies.
- Instructions
- Students are eligible to copy their EKU data to a personal account. Microsoft provides the Mover tool to copy your EKU data to a Personal OneDrive account. Transfer files to your personal OneDrive with the Mover Transfer Wizard will get you started.
- Other affiliations may be eligible to make a copy of your account, but it requires approval from your supervisor. Students may also require approval if they worked for a lab or department while they were at EKU, since they may have data that requires special handling.
Access to your EKU Google Drive and associated Google apps will also end after graduation.
- Instructions
- Access: Google Apps Menu
- Makes archiving, searching, and exporting your data from G Suite easy! NOTE: Use this when ready to migrate (move) files when graduating or leaving the University.
- Utilize Google Vault
- G Suite Learning Center: Vault
- Main Pages
- Help
- Vault Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Your free Microsoft Office subscription, including both the desktop suite and web apps, will expire once you leave EKU. After this time, you’ll need to purchase a consumer or business subscription to continue using Microsoft Office tools.
