Who pays for a tool integration in Canvas?

Accepted Answer

The requestor must identify the proposed funding source in the Software Request. Approval of an LTI integration does not automatically provide central university funding. Costs may include licensing, implementation, training, support, accessibility remediation, renewal, and student charges.

When will requestors be notified of approval?

Accepted Answer

Requestors will be notified after the required reviews are complete and a final decision has been made. The time needed depends on the completeness of the request, vendor responsiveness, contract requirements, accessibility and security findings, and the complexity of the integration. Submit requests as early as possible and do not promise the tool to students or include it as a required course component until written approval is received.

What happens if my LTI is not approved?

Accepted Answer

The tool will not be installed or enabled in Canvas. When possible, reviewers may identify the reason, request additional documentation, recommend a safer configuration, or suggest an existing EKU-supported alternative. A decision not to approve an integration does not prevent faculty from discussing the instructional need with the LMS administrators.

Does a free tool still require review?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A tool can create privacy, security, accessibility, copyright, support, and data-retention obligations even when there is no purchase price.

Question 5

Does approval at another college mean EKU will approve it?

Accepted Answer

No. EKU must evaluate its own intended use, configuration, contract, data exchange, support model, and institutional requirements.

Question 6

Can I use the tool while the request is under review?

Accepted Answer

Do not require students to use the integration or exchange student information with the vendor until the review is complete and written approval has been received.
