EKU Mother-Daughter Duo Share Their Transfer Experience During National Transfer Student Week

In recognition of National Transfer Student Week, Oct. 20–24, Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) highlights students who have found their home at EKU after transferring. For Fall 2025, EKU welcomed approximately 1,200 transfer students.

Amber Dennis and daughter Kaili Dennis transferred to EKU together to continue their academic journeys. Amber, a social work major, and Kaili, a psychology major, say the university’s advising process and welcoming campus community made the transition smooth and rewarding.

“I definitely felt like I was supported when I transferred here,” Kaili said. “We met with an advisor and she really helped us feel comfortable coming to a whole new campus.”

Amber said she wants to show her children “that it’s never too late to go back to school. You can follow your dreams no matter when it is, and you can achieve anything you set your mind to.”

EKU is consistently named to Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society’s Transfer Honor Roll, recognizing dynamic pathways to support transfer students. EKU’s Adult and Transfer Center provides resources, dedicated advisors and credit review for a seamless transfer process. Start your transfer journey at eku.edu/transfer.
