Gov. Andy Beshear has appointed Jean Chenault Logue of Richmond, Kentucky, to the Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) Board of Regents. She will serve on the board through June 30, 2032. Logue’s appointment replaces Alan Long on the Board of Regents, whose term expired.
“We welcome Jean back to her alma mater with her service on our Board of Regents,” said EKU President David McFaddin. “We appreciate the expertise, experience and connection to our community that she brings to the Board as we guide and lead our institution forward.”
Logue previously served as chief circuit judge of the 25th Judicial Circuit and chief regional judge of the Bluegrass Region. Logue started her judicial career serving as the first family court judge of the 25th Judicial Circuit (Madison and Clark counties). During her tenure as circuit judge, she served as president of the Circuit Judges Association, chair of the Judicial Ethics Committee and member of the Circuit Judges’ Education Committee. In addition to Logue’s law career, she volunteered with many civil and professional organizations, including serving on the EKU Friends of the Library Board of Directors and the EKU College of STEM Dean’s Development Cabinet. She received the EKU Distinguished Alumni Award in 2012 and the Chamber of Commerce Wallace G. Maffett Award in 2022.
Logue graduated from EKU with a Bachelor of Business Administration in economics and finance in 1981 and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Kentucky in 1988. Logue is a native of Richmond, where she lives with her husband, Howard. She is a graduate of Model Laboratory School, along with her son, James, daughter-in-law, Sydney, and her parents.
As the governing body of the university, the EKU Board of Regents is comprised of 11 members, eight of which are appointed by the governor. Along with appointed members, the board includes a faculty representative, a staff representative and a student representative, each elected to serve by their respective peers.
