Overview
The Office of Artificial Intelligence Strategies, Innovation, and Success (OAISIS) coordinates Eastern Kentucky University’s approach to artificial intelligence across teaching, learning, institutional operations, and strategy. The office supports responsible, effective, and policy-aligned uses of AI that strengthen student learning, build faculty and staff capacity, improve institutional decision-making, and prepare graduates for an AI-influenced world.

Learning and Professional Development
AI Learning Resources
OAISIS develops public learning resources for students, faculty, staff, and institutional leaders. These collections provide practical guidance for using AI purposefully, critically, and responsibly across academic and professional contexts.
AI Proficiency Pathway
The AI Proficiency Pathway, AIPP, helps students develop practical, ethical, and transferable generative AI skills while keeping human judgment in the lead. The series focuses on what students need to understand, decide, verify, and explain when AI is available: how AI works, how to choose tools purposefully, how to evaluate outputs critically, how to protect privacy, how to disclose AI use, and how to remain responsible for the work they submit.
The AIPP is designed specifically for students and connects generative AI proficiency with the Kentucky Graduate Profile’s Essential Skills. Faculty can use the pathway to introduce shared AI literacy concepts, give students a common language for responsible AI use, and help them practice AI-supported learning without outsourcing their thinking.
Spark Talks
OAISIS’s signature faculty conversation series, offered each semester. Spark Talks feature practical examples, emerging practices, and real faculty experiences using AI in teaching, research, and service. The series helps the EKU community learn from colleagues while approaching AI thoughtfully, ethically, and responsibly.
AI Workshops
Practical sessions for faculty and staff using AI in teaching, research, and university operations. Topics include prompting, assignment and policy design, academic integrity, privacy and data protection, ethical use, and preparation for an AI-enhanced workplace.
AI Quick Bytes
Short, focused videos that answer one practical AI question at a time. Each Quick Byte will provide a clear explanation, demonstration, or strategy that faculty and staff can apply immediately.
