It is time to paint the town maroon.

In celebration of Eastern Kentucky University’s Homecoming 2015 and as a showing of community support for the University, Richmond Mayor Jim Barnes and Madison County Judge Executive Reagan Taylor are proclaiming Friday, Oct. 23, 2015 as “EKU Maroon Day.”

EKU fans, students, faculty, staff, alumni and community supporters are encouraged to wear the Colonel’s signature maroon this Friday to show their school spirit.

Mayor Barnes and Judge Executive Taylor will present the EKU Maroon Day proclamation to President Michael Benson Friday, Oct. 23, at noon on the steps of the Madison County Courthouse, during the Town and Gown Tailgate hosted by the Richmond Chamber of Commerce. The public is invited to enjoy food and fun on the courthouse lawn from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Anyone participating is encouraged to share EKU Maroon Day individual or group photos on social media using #EKUHC2015. Photos will be shared on the EKU website and the University’s Instagram, Twitter and Facebook pages.
