Ben Mohler, assistant vice president for major and planned gifts at Eastern Kentucky University, has received the highest credential available to a professional fundraiser.

Mohler, who joined the University’s development team earlier this year, received the Advanced Certified Fundraising Executive (ACFRE) certification from The Association of Fundraising Professionals.

Available only to senior-level fundraisers who have worked in the profession 10 or more years, the ACFRE is a distinguished achievement earned by only 108 professionals since the inception of the program in 1992.

Prior to joining EKU, Mohler served in key roles at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Cedarville University, and The University of Texas at Austin. Mohler is an active member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and was named to the Charlotte Business Journal's "Forty under 40" in 2013. He earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Cedarville University and a master’s in philanthropy and development from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota.

"Ben's experiences and accomplishments in development are remarkable,” said Nick Perlick, vice president for development and alumni relations at EKU, when Mohler arrived at Eastern. “He has a passion not just for our profession but also for helping to nurture talent and skills in others. We’re fortunate to have him leading our major and planned giving team.”

The Association of Fundraising Professionals is the largest community of professional fundraisers in the world.
