EKU’s Asian Studies Program recently hosted the first-ever international visitors to its program.
Professor Chontida Auikool, lecturer in the International Studies (ASEAN-China) Program, Faculty of Liberal Arts, Thammasat University, Bangkok, Thailand, and Khin Khi Mra, a Burmese consultant whose work focuses on women empowerment in Myanmar (formerly Burma) were on the Richmond campus.
Placed at the Frankfort City Hall for four weeks (Oct. 14-Nov. 12), Auikool and Mra are currently participating in the YSEALI Program, the U.S. government-financed program that supports young Southeast Asians to visit the U.S. in order to deepen their knowledge on development and other issues as well as share their experiences with the U.S. community.
Auikool and Mra spent nearly two hours exchanging ideas with EKU Asian Studies students, faculty, and staff; touring the campus; and attending the program’s third annual Asian Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration.
