For the second straight year, EKU Geosciences students swept the awards in the Geology Oral Presentation session at the annual conference of the Kentucky Academy of Science, held this year at Murray State University.

Sophomore Selsey Stribling and senior Addison Bell earned first- and second-place awards for their research on ridgetop wetlands in the Daniel Boone National Forest. Senior Laura Kelley took third place for her research on the contributions of rainwater and groundwater to the streamflow on EKU’s Meadowbrook Farm.

Additionally, juniors Sophia Chan, Scott Winter and Zeke Buskirk presented results from their research on the watershed at Meadowbrook Farm.

The presenting students are mentored by Dr. Jonathan Malzone and Dr. Walter Borowski, faculty in the EKU Department of Geosciences.
