Mrs. Jane Jenkins Booth has been named the 2025 recipient of Eastern Kentucky University’s College of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Award — the college’s highest honor, presented to individuals who have made impactful contributions to the college.
Together with her husband, Dr. Gary Booth, she has for several years impacted many EKU students through financial support via the Booth Scholarship Program for Science and Mathematics. This scholarship program, established by the Booths, enhances the undergraduate educational experience of students from EKU’s service region who are majoring in science or mathematics. Their support extends beyond funding; the Booths also give freely of their time to mentor EKU students: meeting with scholarship recipients, sharing thoughts, experiences, and providing encouragement.
Mrs. Booth is also a director of the Jane and Gary Booth Foundation Inc., a private foundation, which supports students, enhances education, and promotes economic development and scientific research in underserved communities, particularly in Appalachian Kentucky. Jane also is a strong supporter and fund raiser of SonLight Power, a Christian organization that installs solar electricity capacity in villages in Central America, Haiti, and Africa that will not be on an electrical grid in the foreseeable future. The Booths are up in Kentucky, and now live in Cincinnati, Ohio.
