Our faculty have expertise that spans all levels of biological organization, from molecular and cellular biology to ecosystem services to preparing students who wish to apply to a professional school. Our faculty teach in the classrooms and labs on a daily basis, but also guide both graduate and undergraduate students in independent research projects, many funded by outside agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency, National Institutes of Health, Earthwatch, and the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources.

The University's strong general eduation program allows students to gain a broad perspective in areas of art, humanities, social sciences, english, mathematics, and science. Classes within our programs are designed to develop skills in critical thinking, preparing students for success in their career of choice.
