Alumni Awards

The College of Health Sciences will present two alumni awards annually. Established in 2021, the alumni awards recognize outstanding contributions and accomplishments in the fields of health, wellness, or human services.

Important Dates

1. All materials (complete applications) are due to the CHS Dean by February 1st.

2. Award recipients will be notified of selection by March 1st.

3. Awards will be presented during the CHS Scholars Day event.

Distinguished Alumni Award

The Distinguished Alumni Award is presented annually to recognize individuals that have achieved distinction in their professional or personal field of endeavor. Recipients have made significant contributions to the success and vitality of their local communities, state, nation or world through leadership, service, research, practice, or creative innovations in health, wellness, or human services. The Distinguished Alumni Award is the highest honor bestowed upon an alumnus from the college.

Eligibility

1. Must be a graduate of a degree program within the EKU College of Health Sciences.

2. Ten years or more of experience in their professional or personal field of endeavor.

3. CHS faculty, staff, alumni, or departments may nominate a deserving candidate. Alumni may also self-nominate for consideration.

4. Nominees that fail to submit all of the required materials by the deadline will not be considered. A nomination includes the following: completed nomination form, copy of current curriculum vitae/resume, and two letters of recommendation.

5. Nominations and all support materials shall be submitted electronically to Dean.CHS@eku.edu. All nominees will submit a standardized application to ensure consistency.

6. All nominations and completed applications will be retained and considered for three (3) years. Nominations can be updated if candidate is not selected to receive award.

Emerging Leader Award

The Emerging Leader Award is presented annually to recognize a graduate from the last decade who demonstrates innovation and leadership for the purpose of advancing health, wellness and human services.

Eligibility

1. Must be a graduate of a degree program within the EKU College of Health Sciences.

2. Less than 10 years of experience in their professional or personal field of endeavor.

3. CHS faculty, staff, alumni, or academic departments may nominate a deserving candidate. Alumni may also self-nominate.

4. Nominees that fail to submit all of the required materials by the deadline will not be considered. A nomination includes the following: completed nomination form, copy of current curriculum vitae/resume, and two letters of recommendation.

5. Nominations and all support materials shall be submitted electronically to Dean.CHS@eku.edu. All nominees will submit a standardized application to ensure consistency.

Selection of Award Recipients

1. The CHS Alumni Affairs Development Committee shall serve in the capacity of reviewing all complete nominations submitted by the deadline and selecting the award recipients.

2. Minutes from all meetings shall be recorded with the names of the committee members in attendance, and the award recipients selected. The minutes shall be submitted to the CHS Dean and filed in the college office.

3. The CHS Alumni Affairs Development Committee shall only consider information contained within the nomination, narratives, vitae and support materials as required by the awards criteria. Race, gender, national origin, orientation, and rank shall not be considered.

4. Award winners shall be selected through a secret ballot.

5. Award recipients agree to allow CHS, academic departments and/or EKU to use photos and other pertinent information in press releases, social media platforms, or websites.

Note: The CHS Distinguished Alumni Award and CHS Emerging Leader Award shall not conflict nor be in competition with the Society of Foundation Professors program or the EKU International Alumni Association Awards. CHS reserves the right not to select any recipients in a given period.
