For Student Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loans

Step 1:  Review and Accept/Decline Your Financial Aid Awards

All students awarded a Federal Perkins Loan, Federal Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized
Loan or Federal Work Study must log into EKU Direct to accept/decline those awards. 
The following are the steps to take to review your awards.

1. Log into EKU Direct https://studentss.eku.edu/StudentSelfService/ssb/financialAid

2. Select the Award Offer tab

3. Review awards and accept/reduce/decline following the instructions

If at any time you wish to have your award changed, you should contact EKU’s Office
of Student Financial Assistance.

Step 2:  Complete Loan Entrance Counseling

• Go to www.studentaid.gov
• Login with your student FSA ID & Password
• Click ‘Complete Aid Process’, then ‘Complete Entrance Counseling’
• Click ‘Start’ to begin Entrance Counseling
• Add EKU by searching for Kentucky, then ‘Eastern Kentucky University’
• Click on ‘Notify This School’
• Select the appropriate Student Type and ‘Continue’
• Read all information and answer questions

Step 3:  Sign a Master Promissory Note

• Go to www.studentaid.gov
• Login with your student FSA ID & Password
• Click ‘Complete Aid Process’, then ‘Complete Master Promissory Note’
• Select ‘MPN for Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loans’
• Provide requested information

Note:  When signing your MPN you will be asked to provide two references with different
U.S addresses.  You will need to provide their name, address and telephone number.

For Parent PLUS Loan

To accept the Federal Parent PLUS Loan your PARENT must complete the steps listed below:  Log in at www.studentaid.gov using parent information (parent FSA ID and password)

1. Click on ‘Apply for a Parent PLUS loan’ under ‘Parent’
2. Select ‘Direct PLUS Loan Application for Parents’
3. Provide requested information
4. When prompted for award year, select ‘2021-2022’
5. If approved, click on ‘Complete a Master Promissory Note for a Parent PLUS Loan’
6. Provide requested information
