Financial analysts evaluate opportunities to commit money for the purpose of generating profit and generally focus on trends affecting a specific geographical region, industry, or type of product. Financial examiners typically work in one of two main areas: risk assessment or consumer compliance.

Employment for financial analysts is projected to grow 8 percent while financial examiners is projected to grow 20 percent from 2021 to 2032.

Choose between three concentrations that offer the opportunity to tailor the degree to specific career goals and give you a competitive edge in the job market. Options include:

A great choice for finance majors who are seeking a general degree. Students have flexibility with more electives in this concentration allowing them to customize their finance degree to meet their specific career goals.

Designed to provide students with an understanding of monetary policy and its impact on our economy, global financial markets and the structure and operation of financial institutions. This concentration will prepare students to understand current events related to financial markets and institutions, how to optimally utilize the corporate and consumer products and services provided by financial institutions and management of financial institutions.

Gain a broad education in finance, preparing you to become a financial leader with a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of topics including portfolio theory, advanced financial institutions, advanced managerial finance and global financial management. This concentration prepares students for financial institutions management and financial investments management.

Curriculum & Admission


EKU’s curriculum blends academic and professional preparation through course topics such as corporate finance, entrepreneurial finance, forensic accounting, and investment and portfolio theory.

A minimum of 120 credits are required to graduate.

Students may transfer up to 90 hours of credit from accredited institutions. Please note that a minimum of 30 credit hours in this degree program must be completed at Eastern Kentucky University.

Previously earned credits must be reviewed upon admission to EKU for appropriate articulation.

Please note that certain degree programs have special admission requirements. Admission to the University does not mean automatic admission to all degree programs.
