Tournament Program

The PGA Golf Management program at Eastern Kentucky University offers a tournament schedule organized and implemented by the Student Association Tournament Committee.

PGA Golf Management Tour

The PGA Golf Management Tour is a series of weekly, 9-hole tournaments, designed for player development and to improve tournament playing skills. There is no entry fee for tour events or majors. All PGA Golf Management students are required to play in six tour events each semester (not including the major tournaments). Arlington Golf Shop gift certificates and a tournament point system are in place to reward the top players.

PGA Golf Management Majors

The major tournaments consist of the following events:

  • Club Championship – 36-hole stroke play; Men’s division and Women’s division
  • Colonel Cup – 12-player team modeled after the Ryder Cup
  • Colonel Classic – 2-player teams with a different format every 9-holes (S, BB, Alt, Comb.)
  • Arlington Shoot Out – 6-player teams, 36-hole stroke play. Individual and team champions

The Tournament Program schedule will begin the first week of school each year. The 9-hole weekly events are held August, September, October, November, February, March and April.

The Majors are played on weekends. The Club Championship is in late September or early October and the Colonel Cup is in mid to late October. In the spring semester, the Colonel Classic is held in March, and the Arlington Shootout is played in mid-April each year.

Curriculum & Admission


Learn essential skills for today’s business environment. Our fully accredited programs are rooted in both theory and practical applications blending academic and professional preparation through course topics such as golf operations and administration, analysis of the golf swing, advanced golf instruction, and turfgrass management.

A total of 121 credits are required to graduate.

The Eastern Kentucky University Cooperative Education experience gives students an opportunity to apply classroom theory and build their professional network. The internships are available throughout the country and our students have been employed at prestigious clubs such as Winged Foot, Olympia Fields, The Greenbrier Sporting Club, TPC Sawgrass, and many more. If you can think of your dream internship or job in golf, this program will prepare you for it.

The PGA Golf Management option requires 16 months of PAID internships for all PGA Golf Management students in accordance with the PGA of America standards. The internships are scheduled during the summer (3) months following each of the first three academic school years in addition to a (7) month internship scheduled once a student completes their University academic requirements.

EKU PGA Golf Management Internship Facilities
EKU’s PGA Golf Management students complete co-operative education requirements in accordance with the PGA of America standards. Co-ops are scheduled during summer months following an academic school year (3-month co-ops) with an extended co-op scheduled once a student completes University academic requirements.

The cooperative education component of the curriculum requires a minimum of 16 months of employment at an approved facility or site. Students select from facilities currently approved and registered with the EKU PGA Golf Management program.

The PGA Golf Management program at Eastern Kentucky University is designed as a freshman entry program. Students wishing to transfer to the PGA Golf Management program must meet all of the admission requirements stated previously and will be considered on a case-by-case basis. A transfer student must submit an official transcript with application and have a minimum 2.25 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

A student admitted to the PGA Golf Management program at EKU may transfer up to 64 credit hours and will be placed into the freshman cohort group. A student transferring from another PGA Golf Management program will remain in the same cohort in which they were enrolled at their previous college or university.

On-Campus Deadlines

Admission to the PGA Golf Management concentration of the BBA in Marketing is a two-step process.

  • Be admitted to EKU. Students wishing to enroll in the PGA Golf Management program must first meet the criteria and requirements for admission to Eastern Kentucky University.
  • To apply for undergraduate admission to Eastern Kentucky University (EKU), submit an application at apply.eku.edu and submit any required materials electronically or by mail to:

  • After being accepted to EKU, students wishing to enroll in the PGA Golf Management Program must complete the following items to be accepted:
  • Submit the EKU PGA Golf Management Application.
  • Golf Proficiency – A USGA Handicap of 12 or lower is required. Alternatively, a PGA/LPGA Professional or High School Golf Coach will verify your average score.
  • Letter of Recommendation – A recommendation from a PGA/LPGA Professional or High School Golf Coach is required. You will provide their contact information in the application so they can submit a letter on your behalf and confirm your handicap or average score.

Application Review Process:
Once your application is submitted, it will be reviewed within 7-14 days. You will receive an official decision via email.


Conditional Admission: In some cases, applicants may be conditionally admitted to the program. Full admission will be granted once all requirements are met.
