Dr. Eric Fuchs, a professor at Eastern Kentucky University (EKU), was inducted into the 2026 Kentucky Athletic Trainers Society (KATS) Hall of Fame, recognizing his contributions and devotion to advancing the profession.
“The induction of Dr. Eric Fuchs into the Kentucky Athletic Trainers’ Society Hall of Fame is well-deserved and is a testament of the impact that he has made throughout his career,” said Dr. Michael Ballard, dean of EKU’s College of Health Sciences. “As an expert in the field, Dr. Fuchs is frequently invited to speak across the country on best practices in the field. In addition, he mentors and works closely with our students completing their degree program. We celebrate with Dr. Fuchs on this recognition from KATS.”
Fuchs has served as president and treasurer and on the Governmental Affairs Committee and the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure task force for KATS. He continues to represent Kentucky’s interests at the district and national levels, serving as the Southeast Athletic Trainers Association treasurer and a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association District Secretaries & Treasurers Committee. He currently serves on the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement Committee and as a peer reviewer.
“Dr. Fuchs has consistently demonstrated excellence and superior commitment to the athletic training profession. We are all proud of him and this career accomplishment,” said Dr. Jon McChesney, department chair of Parks, Recreation, Exercise & Sport Science.
Fuchs is a professor in EKU’s Department of Parks, Recreation, Exercise & Sport Science. Additional faculty members in the department earning Hall of Fame honors include Dr. Joel Cormier, professor, elected to the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation Hall of Fame in 2025 and McChesney elected to the Kentucky Recreation and Park Society Hall of Fame in 2022.
