Recipients
The Dr. Rodney Gross Scholarship directly supports EKU’s guiding values of belonging and community engagement by supporting intellectual growth, creativity, empowerment, and life-changing experiences that unite students from many backgrounds and perspectives as One Eastern. The Dr. Rodney Gross Scholarship program provides scholarships to applicants based on a holistic evaluation of their application, including academic achievement, extracurriculars, and a personal submission. Students who receive the Dr. Rodney Gross Scholarship will be automatically placed into the Academy Scholars Program, a cohort based program to support students’ academic, social, and professional well-being. The Dr. Rodney Gross Scholarship is intended for first-time students and transfer students with less than 60 credits hours who are already admitted to EKU and pursuing their first undergraduate degree. Incoming freshman students must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and transfer students must have a minimum college GPA of 2.75.
Award
Awards range from $1,000 to $3,000 per year and are applied to student’s tuition and fees. In order to retain the scholarship, the student must maintain a 2.75 cumulative grade point average and be enrolled full-time.
- Incoming freshman students must have a high school grade point average of 2.50 or higher
- Transfer and current students must have a minimum of a 2.75 college GPA
- Recipients of the scholarship must not be classified as “online students” and must be enrolled full-time at the EKU main campus with in-person courses.

Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Scholarships recipients will be selected and notified via email by the University Scholarship Committee.
