Members of Eastern Kentucky University’s Phi Beta Lambda chapter captured many honors at the organization’s National Leadership Conference, held June 24-27 in Atlanta, Georgia.
The conference drew thousands of future business leaders to compete in leadership events, share successes, and learn new ideas about shaping their careers through workshops and exhibits.
Encouraged by the financial, academic and moral support of Adviser Dr. Marcel Robles, department chair Dr. Lana Carnes, College of Business and Technology Associate Dean Dr. Ed Davis and Dean Dr. Thomas Erekson, the students performed exceptionally well. Two first-place and one second-place award along with a number of additional honors came home to Eastern.

· Kaelyn Herrin, Hodgenville, 6th place, Information Management
· Wendi Smith, Pikeville; Laura Jackson, Barbourville; and Savannah Day, Owingsville, 8th place, Social Media Challenge
· Dalton Stanley, Pikeville, 8th place, Entrepreneurship Concepts
· Alex Martin, Richmond, 10th place, Administrative Technology
Also participating in competitive events were Shanoah Shelton, Richmond; Seth Barron, Somerset; Madison Harris, Olive Hill; and Weston Robbe, Richmond.
"This group of students should be recognized as outstanding leaders and role models that we want as business students and future alums of EKU,” Robles said. “Additionally, the faculty who taught them these important concepts should be praised for their success and commitment to teaching and learning. Together, we are making a difference in the lives and careers of these young people."
Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda Inc., the largest and oldest student business organization, is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) education association with 250,000 members and advisers in over 6,500 active middle school, high school, and college chapters worldwide.
