Families who still want to trick-or treat on Halloween night are invited to Eastern Kentucky University’s Alumni Coliseum for “Halloween and Hoops,” an indoor event that will fill up the candy bags without getting trick-or-treaters soaked. A rainy weather forecast prompted government officials to reschedule official trick-or-treat hours to Saturday evening in Richmond, Berea and Madison County.

Trick-or-treat will be held Thursday, Oct. 31 from 5:30 – 6:45 p.m. in the auxiliary gym of Alumni Coliseum, with candy provided by EKU, the City of Richmond and Richmond Tourism. After that, a free men’s basketball exhibition game featuring the EKU Colonels vs the Berea Mountaineers will take place in the main gym. Trick-or-treaters and family are encouraged to stick around for the game and cheer on our local college teams starting with a 7 p.m. tipoff. The game will feature a costume parade and contest. Admission is free and includes general seating. EKU Dining will offer free popcorn to any child in costume or EKU gear.

EKU, in partnership with the City of Richmond, City of Berea and Madison County Government proudly offers this indoor alternative to our community and encourages the young and young-at-heart to join the fun this Thursday.
