Center for Career and Cooperative Education
Professional opportunities in public history have grown dramatically over the last few decades, and several of our alumni are now pursuing careers in applied fields ranging from museum work to archive management. Our undergraduate and graduate programs alike offer opportunities to gain professional experience in these fields while pursuing your degree.

EKU students can earn college credit via work in a variety of professional settings including:

Whitehall State Historic Site (Richmond, KY)
EKU Archives (Richmond, KY)
Governor Owsley House (Lancaster, KY)
Mill Spring Museum (Nancy, KY)
Ashland – The Henry Clay Estate (Lexington, KY)
The Mary Todd Lincoln House (Lexington, KY)

For our undergraduates, college credit for applied professional experiences in history are arranged through the Center for Career and Co-Operative Education office. To inquire about or arrange for credit via HIS 349 (Cooperative Education: History), please contact Dr. Tim Smit.
