Mr. Andy Baker is currently the CEO of Traditional Bank, where he has worked for over 35 years. Traditional Bank was founded in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, in 1902 and remained an independent, locally-owned bank with 245 employees in its six-county service area. The bank has 16 locations in Central and Eastern Kentucky and approximately $1.6 billion in assets.
Baker began his career with Traditional Bank in 1985 after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Finance from Eastern Kentucky University. Through various roles, he developed a deep understanding of the operational and administrative facets of the organization.
Baker has wanted to serve his community which has played a vital role in his personal and professional life. He is president of the Montgomery County affiliate for Habitat for Humanity (20 years), an advisory director for the Montgomery County Area Technology Center, a local trustee for the United Way of the Bluegrass, and a member of St. Patrick Church Parish and Finance Council. A lifelong learner, Baker has embraced opportunities that could build his professional expertise and enhance his knowledge of the local markets that Traditional Bank serves.
While at EKU, Baker met his wife of 32 years, Mary Weigel (Bachelor of Science in Nursing 1984), and together they have 3 adult children and a daughter-in-law. In his free time, he enjoys skiing, hiking, and traveling to National Parks with his family.
