STEM START, August 11-14, 2024

Are you a first-year EKU student majoring in Manufacturing Engineering or Engineering Technology Management? Get a head start on the semester by participating in STEM START 2024! – Register Here!

What?

STEM START is a 4-night, 4-day workshop designed to equip students with the skills needed for success in college. During this project-based experience, students in engineering and technology will practice and apply fundamental math concepts, experiment with 3D design processes, and interact with current students, faculty, and staff in the Department of Engineering and Technology. Participation in this program helps ensure STEM STudents Arrive Ready To Succeed!

Why?

Completion of undergraduate STEM degrees continues to lag workforce demands, and success rates for populations traditionally underrepresented in STEM remain substantially lower than the same rates for other students. STEM START 2024 is designed to bridge gaps between high school and college such that students are ready for success in college-level coursework on the first day of classes. By leveraging practices shown to build students’ persistence and sense of preparedness, we aim to increase retention and graduation rates in engineering and technology programs.
